Annual Rotating Homeless Shelter

Every winter, Vineyard Church of Ann Arbor takes our turn with dozens of churches and synagogues in the area to host a week of a rotating shelter in cooperation with the Shelter Association of Washtenaw County. We host up to 25 men, overnight from 6:30 pm to 8:00 am, who would otherwise be on the street during the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day.

We always need volunteers to make this possible! We need people to take on seven-hour shifts at the church from 7:30 pm at night to 1:30 am in the morning and from 1:00 am in the morning to 8:00 am. We also need van drivers to pick up our guests in the evening at the Delonis Center and drop them off at St. Andrews for breakfast. Also, we need donations of food for evening meals and snacks for both the evening and morning. There are also volunteer opportunities for shorter time slots available.

In 2019, we will be hosting the rotating shelter from December 23-30. The list of volunteer opportunities and the place to sign up can be found at this link. New signup forms are usually available in the November before we host the shelter. For more information you can contact our Homeless Ministries.
