PARTICIPATE & ENGAGE

We have a simple idea here at Vineyard: everyone gets to play. Simply put, everyone gets to participate in this growing community because that’s what the church is all about: connecting, sharing, growing, and supporting the people around you as we pursue a connection to God. This is intentional, and we experience God’s presence as the community reflects it, not in a vacuum. By learning about God and sharing our experiences in community, we are transformed.

Get Connected

Getting connected to the church isn’t something that happens all at once. Maybe you’ve never been to church before, and it’s all a bit strange or intimidating. Perhaps you haven’t made up your mind what you think about God, or the church. For now you’re happy to be one of the crowd and just observe. Or perhaps you’re visiting several churches, trying to figure out where you belong.

Fortunately, there are lots of others in the same boat, and we have many opportunities available for you to dip your toe in the water. There’s no rush, and you’re free to take things at your own pace. Also, our pastoral staff team is always available to help you figure out what would work best for you.

If you have been visiting for a while and would like to make a deeper commitment and connection, we have many ways that you can do this. We would love for everyone who attends to feel settled enough to consider the Ann Arbor Vineyard their church home. Not everyone is the same and we have many different ways of connecting and we are sure that we have something for you.

Community Life Events

These provide a great opportunity to meet with fellow congregants as well as the staff and leaders. We have a wide variety of events throughout the year and these are regularly updated on our church calendar. The most popular is the Community Coffee hour held one a month on the third Sunday after the celebration. We have other fun events like the Easter Egg hunt, the Church Picnic, and the Fall Festival, as well as many others which are also open to all. We are always looking for volunteers to help host these events and this also serves as a great way of getting to know people. If you would like more information about Community Life Events, feel free to contact our Connections Coordinator.

Classes

We believe that living as a follower of Jesus means loving God with heart, soul, mind and strength (Matt 22:37). That means we don’t check our brain at the door when we enter the church, but rather engage our faith with discernment and reasoning. At Vineyard we offer a broad range of classes, ranging from introductions to the Christian faith to an eight-week class for married couples to in-depth biblical studies. Wherever you’re at in your faith journey, we offer classes to stimulate your mind and deepen your understanding.

Serve

Working alongside one another is the best way to get to know each other while serving God and our community. We have a very wide range of service opportunities. Take a look at some of our opportunities below and see what matches your gifts and abilities.

Ministries

Ministry is not a noun, it’s a verb. When we are a part of a ministry, we are actively serving God and other people. Jesus provided the pattern for Christian ministry—he came, not to receive service, but to give it (Matthew 20:28.) We are also called to give of our time and talents by engaging in ministry. Explore our current ministry options and see what God is doing in and through the Ann Arbor Vineyard.

Life Groups

The Ann Arbor Vineyard has a strong life group culture. We have a variety of small groups that meet throughout the week at different venues. To find out more about small groups contact our Connections Coordinator who will work on finding a small group to suit your needs.

Sacraments & Ceremonies

In Christian belief and practice, a sacrament is a rite that mediates divine grace, constituting a sacred mystery. The root meaning of the Latin word sacramentum is to “make sacred”. Views concerning both what rites are sacramental, and what it means for an act to be sacramental vary among Christian denominations and traditions.

Spiritual Formation

There are many different definitions of spiritual formation. A definition that describes our approach comes from Dallas Willard, who describes spiritual formation in the tradition of Jesus Christ as “the process of transformation of the inmost dimension of the human being, the heart, which is the same as the spirit or will. It is being formed (really, transformed) in such a way that its natural expression comes to be the deeds of Christ done in the power of Christ.”

Spiritual formation is not something that we do to ourselves for ourselves, but something we allow God to do in us and for us as we yield ourselves to the work of God’s transforming grace in us, and also in the world around us.

Give

As a church we are grateful for the gifts, large and small, which God has given us, and we are invited by God to respond to His grace by generously giving back, by sharing the gifts and blessings that have been received by us, and by caring for the world which God has entrusted to us. Giving is a sacrament and also a commitment. You can partner with us today by making a one-time gift today or setup a recurring giving account. No matter the size, every contribution is important and appreciated.

Community Coffee Hour

Before COVID times, our community would gather together in the church lobby after the celebration to enjoy some great company and delicious donuts on the third Sunday of every month. It is a great way of getting better connected to the church if you are a guest or newcomer. It is also a fantastic way of catching up with old friends if you are a part of the community. All are welcome, the more the merrier! We will keep everyone update on when this will start back up.

If you are a guest or newcomer, the pastoral team and staff would love to meet you, so be sure to introduce yourself to anyone wearing a black name badge. They are all quite friendly. The donuts are unlimited and tea & coffee are also available.
